One-minute Love Connections:
Love phrases- Stop all activity and thought. Look at yourself in the mirror and say "I Love you more each day" or "You are Wonderful". Speak from your heart. Snuggle- Give yourself a 10 second snuggle or hug. Think to yourself, 'I am lovable' for another 50 seconds. Creative Gestures- Find different ways to express affection. Sign language is great. Be silly and unique. Friendly messages- Leave notes around to tell yourself friendly messages or a loved one. Use the phone to leave voice messages instead of texts. Use your voice. Esteem Builders- Use those annoying affirmations on yourself for one minute, (that I like to refer to as reinforcements.), "I am amazing". Get creative and bold. Silly Connections- Handshakes and gestures are great. High fives and character playing is great. Be original and goofy. Tender Touch- Cup your own face cheeks or massage your arms. Get familiar with basic, simple touch. Empathetic Connection- Tell yourself it is OK to feel frustrated from a busy day at work, reassure yourself it is only temporary and it is perfectly OK to feel frustrated. Validate your own feelings. Extra Long Look- Take a deep breath and look at yourself or a loved one for one full minute with a smile. I know it sounds cheesy but it can really turn around a low mood. Appreciate and value yourself. |
